QORZAVEN Islands — the room's centre of gravity
The Mise is where knives are welcome: end-grain oak glued for a lifetime of chopping, drawbored hardwood legs that never learn to wobble, and a food-safe oil finish that sands back to new whenever you decide.
A good island is furniture with civic duties: end-grain blocks fitted for real knife work, stainless zones where heat lands, and storage planned from the cook's orbit outward. Ours are drawn around how your kitchen actually moves — then built to hold that choreography for decades.

Care
Scrub blocks across the grain, rinse briefly, dry standing. Scars are patina until you sand them away in ten minutes with the kit — end-grain forgives decades of honest knives.
Questions, Answered
Can I have a real butcher's block inset?
Yes — end-grain inserts fitted flush or proud, oiled and replaceable. Knife work belongs on wood; the stone will thank you.
Does an island need services in the floor?
Power usually, water and extraction only if the plan puts cooking or washing there. We map routes at survey — before floors are a decision you regret.
The QORZAVEN Promise
One standard across the range: if it would not survive a decade of family breakfasts in our own test kitchen, it does not ship with the QORZAVEN mark.
